Sydney Bowmen

The longest running Archery Club in New South Wales

Originally the Club was formed around 1946, possibly even earlier, Sydney Bowmen is one of the oldest Archery Clubs in New South Wales. We now shoot at grounds located at Latham Park in Moverley Road, Coogee.

We're a friendly club of around 30 members who meet every Sunday from about 10.30am. Weekend events attract around 20 archers - including a growing number of beginners of all ages. One of the most pleasant aspects of the Club is the mix of people you'll meet.

Our members shoot all kinds of bows, some with competition in mind, others purely for fun. Around 60% shoot sighted recurve (the kind of bow you see used in Olympic events), others shoot modern compound bows, and an increasing number are shooting traditional wooden and composite bows such as American Flat Bows, Mongolian, Korean recurves, traditional English longbows and even home-made bows. Some members also like to shoot modern equipment in the bare-bow style i.e. with the sights removed.

So, no matter what kind of bow you'd like to shoot (crossbows excepted), or what level you're at, there'll be others at the Club who share your interest.
